Contemporary Magnets and Magnetic Equipment

Magnet by a very basic definition means a piece of iron that attracts other iron objects towards it, either due to its natural properties or because of an electric current that is passed through it. A magnet possesses a magnetic field, which is although invisible, but exerts a significant attractive force on the surrounding objects. Magnetic Material are of great importance in the present world. They found their application in a lot of areas like in mining and mineral industry, food and pharmaceutical industry, plastic and glass manufacturing industry, to name a few. Nowadays magnets are widely used in various industrial equipment like electric motors, sensors, loudspeakers, reed-switches, transformers, communication devices, etc. The presence of contemporary magnets is almost indispensable for the fabrication of advanced magnetic equipment, which in turn make our world really hi-tech and a comfortable place to live.

Today, this fabulous stuff or object called magnet is used in almost all industrial applications. We are going to discuss in brief some vital aspects related to modern magnets. Following are these aspects or categories:

1) Types of Magnets: Magnet is one term, but its varieties are many. The same varieties come under this category. The different magnets grouped under this category differ in their properties and features. The common types of magnets include rare earth, bonded, ferrite, funnel, channel, pot, rubber, sheet, suspension, and so.

2) Magnetic Separator: This component is basically meant for separating various types of metal strips, pins, nails, and other metal impurities from an accumulation of miscellaneous non-metallic objects. They are mainly used in recycling plants. They are also used for the purpose of collecting or separating ferro-magnetic minerals. The popular varieties of magnetic separators that can be found under this category include suspended, drum, plate, roller, grinder plate, hump, liquid line, and pneumatic separators.

3) Magnetic Products: This category includes various industrial and non-industrial use magnetic equipment or products. The primary products that constitute this category are sweeper, sheet floater, tool holder, stirrer, coolant filter, chuck, slide conveyor, roller, vibratory screen, and so. All these machines and equipment works on the principle of magnetism.

4) Magnetic Applications: This category deals with the large number of application areas of magnet, at present. This category can be further divided into two sub-categories, i.e., magnetic therapy related applications and industrial applications. The industrial applications are associated with industries like mining and mineral, food and pharmaceutical, etc. and the therapy related magnets deals with ankle, elbow, back, head, neck, shoulder, and other parts of body.
